ContactMirror for Outlook lets you synchronize contact information between Palm desktop and Microsoft Outlook.
You may want to access the contact information on your Palm, Palm Desktop and Microsoft Outlook. Then you will need to keep your contact information up to date, especially when you are using both Palm Desktop and Outlook.
ContactMirror for Outlook provides an easy solution to keep the contacts in the Palm Desktop and Microsoft Outlook synchornized. And you can also select and transfer the special contact information between these two software.
Limitations
ContactMirror only looks up Outlook contact in the default Contact folder, no other folders or sub-folders will be searched.
ContactMirror Scope
ContactMirror for Outlook only supports contact synchronization between Palm Desktop and Microsoft Outlook. The calendar, notes, task applications are not included.
And it doesn’t support Tungsten E/T3 Palm Desktop 4.1.2.

How to use ContactMirror
Actually, ContactMirror for Outlook is very easy to use.
On the application’s main window, the contacts in the Palm Desktop are listed in the left table and the Outlook contacts are listed in the right side.
There are three kinds of data transfer options provided by ContactMirror:
Palm Desktop overwrite Outlook.
Outlook Overwrite Palm Desktop.Synchronize All.
And three buttons can be pressed to take these three actions.
Please note, for the first two options, only the selected records in the table will be transfered and for the last option. All data will be synchronized.
For each contact record, there is a check-box to indicate whether this record is selected. This indicator only takes effects when choosing "Palm Desktop overwrite Outlook" or "Outlook overwrite Palm Desktop" process. The "Synchronize All" process won’t care this indicator and will synchronize all the records.
If you want to select different Palm users for the synchronization, please choose the specified user from the combo box at the bottom of the application main window. The "Select All" and "Clear" buttons are used to select records more conveniently.
Set ContactMirror Option

By clicking the [Option] button in the ContactMirror main window, the above dialog will be shown to enable user to setup the ContactMirror options.
During the full synchronization, some contacts belongs to one person may exist in both Outlook and Palm Desktop. ContactMirror determines whether a contact belongs to the same person by:
- Same first name and last name.
- And one of the phone number ( Office phone, Home phone, Mobile phone, etc ) or Same E-Mail address.
Then ContactMirror can avoid to generate duplicate records in Palm Desktop or Outlook. But if the some fields of the contact which belongs to one person differs in the two application. You need to set an option to let one overwrite the other.
You can set the option in this dialog box.
New in ContactMirror version 1.1
- Outlook Contact has four address types: Mail Address, Business Address, Home Address, Other Address. While Palm Desktop only has one type of address. An option has be added to set the synchronize address type.
- Palm Desktop Custom fields synchronization has been enabled.
If the contact was found in both Palm Desktop and Outlook while some field values are different in the two applications, the following dialog box will be shown to let user choose the appropriate action of the synchronization. ( Unless you have set the overwrite options in the option dialog box.

If you would like to apply the option in the whole synchronization, please check the "Apply this action in the whole synchronization" check-box.

This version of ContactMirror will look for contact data in the default Contact folder. Contacts in other folders will not be processed. And the contact data located on Exchange server also won’t be synchronized.
- How does ContactMirror process duplicated contact records?
ContactMirror has been designed to avoid to generate duplicate records in the Palm Desktop and Outlook. In the Palm Desktop or Outlook application, if a contact that has the same first name and last name, and one of the phone numbers or e-mail address are same, it will be treated as one contact record. If other field values are different for the record in the two applications, ContactMirror will not generate the new contact record, but will overwrite one record by the action that user set before ( in the "option" dialog box or the "choose sync action" dialog box.
