FAQ

The application complains that it cannot find the "iTunesMobileDevice.dll" file

This file is required for the application to detect both iPod and iPhone/Touch device’s. We cannot distribute this file due to copyright reasons. However the file is installed on your computer when you install the latest versions of iTunes.

Although we automatically attempt to locate this file on your computer, it may be necessary for you to manually locate it. To do this search your local hard disk for the file "itunesmobiledevice.dll".

Once you have located the file, copy the file into the same folder in which you installed iPod 2 iPhone.

I’m receiving an "Setup Interrupted" error message when installing under Vista

This is generally caused when you are attempting to run the installer without first "unzipping" the file you downloaded.

Please "unzip" your installation file before running setup.exe.

I’m experiencing other difficulties installing under Vista

Please try running the installer/application with administrative privileges.

To do this simply right-click on the installer/application and select "Run as administrator".

I’m experiencing other difficulties installing under Windows XP

Please ensure that your user account is set as an Administrator account.

Check this within the Control Panel -> User Accounts.

I’m receiving a "Communication Error" or "UNKNOWN ERROR" when registering

Most commonly this problem has something to do with your firewall settings.

Sometimes people unknowingly have 2 firewalls installed on their computers, the one installed
by Microsoft as part of the operating system and a third party one which is installed by them.

Both of these firewalls will need to be configured to allow the software to finish the registration process.

After installing the latest version of iTunes, your product freezes on startup

This is because iTunes recently changed the format of the iPod internal database.

As a result a new version of all of our software was released to deal with the update.

No songs appear on my iPod, or iTunes complainsthat it can no longer use it.

In very rare cases an iPod database can become corrupt.

In the event of this occuring you can restore your iPod from a backup you have made previously (via the Backup icon), by clicking on the Restoreicon within the program.

If you do not have a current backup, restore your ipod to it’s original state (the point in time you first ran iPod 2 iPhone), but holding the SHIFTkey down and clicking on the Restore icon.

All my transferred songs disappear when I run iTunes

Generally this occurs when synchronization is enabled within iTunes. iTunes assumes that if the music on your iPod cannot be found on your computer, you are no longer interested in listening to it. It then proceeds to delete these songs off your iPod.

Resolution:
1. Right click on iPod within iTunes, select "iPod Options…".
2. Under the Music Tab, select "Manually manage songs and playlists".

Note:
The iPod Shuffle does not have this option. The only way to retain music is not to run iTunes while your Shuffle is connected to your computer.

Does iPod 2 iPhone breach Apple’s copyright?
No. iPod 2 iPhone does not infringe Apple© copyright; does not enable Fair play licensees to play protected content not authorized through iTunes© and does not enable users to connect to the iTunes server.

Can I transfer my friends music from their iPod to mine legally?
No. Transferring music between any electronic device is illegal if you are not the legal owner of the music; this is infringing copyright.

How many iPods can I connect at once?
You are only limited by the number of USB/Firewire connections available on your computer.

How many iPhone/Touch can I connect at once?
The product only supports “one” iPhone or Touch to be connected at a time.

Why does iPod 2 iPhone create a backup?
The first time you transfer content to a new iPod/iPhone/Touch, the application displays the following message.

Our backup functionality minimizes the possibility of any data loss, while providing you with the ability to restore your valuable content at any time in the future. We also recommend that you periodically use the manually back up facility.

How much disk space does the backup facility use?
The backup facility makes a copy of your iPod database, not the songs themselves.
If your iPod was a book, think of the backup as taking a copy of the book’s index, not the actual content.
This being the case, the backup takes up very little space, but will depend upon the number of songs you have stored on your iPod.
The backup is stored on the iPod, not on your computer.

Can I transfer songs to my local hard disk?
To do this you will need Virtual iPod, our iPod backup utility.
In the application, vPods (Virtual iPods) appear just like normal iPods, allowing you to drag and drop songs, playlists and video between your iPods and your hard disk easily.

What are network iPods?
You can connect to your other iPods over a Local Area Network (LAN). To do this, you first have to “share” the iPod so your other computers can connect to it.

To Create a Network Share
# Firstly right-click on the iPod in Windows Explorer, and select “Sharing and Security”.
# Click “New Share” and give it a name like “JoesNano”.
# Click “Permissions” and set the appropriate Read/Write security you want other computers to have.
# Click “OK”.

To Connect to a Network iPod
# Right-click on “My Network Places” in Windows Explorer, and select “Map Network Drive”.
# Select the drive identifier you want to use for the iPod.
# Browse or type in the network address to your “JoesNano” share, for example \JoesComputerJoesNano.
# Click “Finish”.

Can I run the program from my iPod?
Yes. Simply copy the iPod 2 iPhone directory from [install drive]:Program Files into the root folder of your iPod.
You can then run the program from this directory. Make sure the computer your iPod is connected to has the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 installed. If not visit the Microsoft Windows Update site to download it.

Are you planning a Mac OSX version?
There are no plans at this stage.

Will the program run under Windows Vista (32bit)?
Yes. This has been thoroughly tested.

Will the program run in 64bit Windows?
This hasn’t been tested but it should run without any problems due to it being written using the Microsoft .NET Framework.
