Piggyback sim card has stopped working
If ever your piggyback and your sim stops working and you get no service, simply remove from your iPhone, place BOTH sims into your old phone (we find Nokias the best), pick up service, then put back into the iPhone.
I cannot sync with iTunes after putting my sim in - it complains
This is because the iPhone was restored or activated with a legitimate sim in, and iTunes has detected a difference. This is simple to fix, make sure you leave your (piggyback if iPhone 3G) + ‘illegal’ sim in the iPhone then just hold down home + sleep for 30 seconds, force iphone into restore mode, restore the iPhone using iTunes, then repeat the unlock.
Phone goes slow and sometimes freezes particularly when typing
this is a known bug which Apple are aware of and will be fixed in the next update.
Bluetooth connectivity isnt great
this is a known bug which Apple are aware of and will be fixed in the next update.
Mail accounts don’t work or Mail doesn’t open
You need to restore your iPhone again, repeat the unlock, and choose ‘Setup as new iPhone’ rather than ‘Restore from backup’
SMS sending and/or receiving doesnt work after upgrading to version 2
just turn the phone off and then on again!
Can make calls but cannot receive despite having full service
Ensure Call Waiting, Call Forwarding and TTY are all turned OFF within Settings >> Phone
iTunes cannot restore errors
Error 6 Your iPhone is in standard recovery mode. You need to be in DFU mode to restore to our custom firmware the first time (once your iPhone is running our firmware, subsequent restores can be done in normal recovery mode)
Error 9 This occurs for ANY restore. This happens if your USB connector on your iPhone is damaged, usually by using a car charger which has sent too high a voltage.
If this doesn’t fix it, its probably worth getting us to look at it, failing that you will need a warranty replacement (if possible).
Error 1403 Firmware file you have downloaded is corrupt - so re-download the firmware.
Error 1600 Your iPhone is in DFU mode but you have either a) not run the iPhoneUnlockUK_prepare command correctly (Mac) or b) You haven’t copied the x1222000_.ipsw file to the right place (PC)
Error 1601, 1602, 1604 These occur on a PC and are symptomatic of having anti-virus or firewall or some other software which is incompatible. We recommend trying another PC or disabling as many services as you can.
Error 1604 You are entering DFU mode, but when the iPhone was ON. You MUST turn the iPhone off first by holding down sleep for 3 seconds and sliding the red slider.
Taking iPhone out of DFU mode to restore to standard firmware
Just hold down home and sleep for 30 seconds, this will take your iPhone out of DFU mode then you can use iTunes to restore to standard firmware

I purchased a GSM iPhone in Thailand 20 months ago when I was working over there. I have since brought it back to Australia and place an Australian carriers SIM card in it. I then attempted to upgrade the software on my GSM iPhone today and it cannot sync with iTunes because the SIM card is in compatible - it complains.
What iTunes registers is “The SIM card inserted in this phone iPhone does not appear to be supported” and now it has stalled and not useable at the moment. This message comes up every time I attempt to sinc the iPhone with my Macitosh computer.
What I require is to be able to load on software that will activate my iPhone again.
I have a top up plan with a phone provider. Please can someone help me?

I have another idea for fix if the 1st one doesn’t work. If you still have the Thailand SIM card, put it back in and do a restore in iTunes. Then, with the old SIM still in the iPhone, upgrade the software and/or sync. After you are finished, you may need to unlock again. Then put your Australian SIM card in the iPhone. You may have to use the old SIM each time with iTunes if you use this method.
